Another fitness option is coming to Ave Maria later this year.
Ave Maria resident Wilson Ospina and Jason Gabauer, who also owns the Martial Arts Fitness Academy, are planning to open a CrossFit gym in the Mobil gas station plaza where Mr. Gabauer's other business is located.
Mr. Ospina, a certified CrossFit trainer, stresses that the gym will have programs tailored for everyone, from basic fitness to regular CrossFit workouts. He's a former Navy field corpsman who served as a medic with the Marine Corp. (Pictured, Mr. Ospina is at far right with other crossfit enthusiasts, from left: Michelle Jacques, Luis Trejo , Eric Jacques, Aura Maria Ospina and Victor Velasquez.)
The basic movements at Ave Maria CrossFit will reflect aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running and rowing and are geared to enhancing strength, agility and endurance, he said.
"CrossFit is in popular demand, many people have expressed a great interest in this new fitness option to reach their fitness goals," Mr. Gabauer said.
The hope is to open this fall, subject to the usual potential delays in the Collier County permitting process. Current plans are to be open seven days a week, beginning as early as 5:30 a.m. and as late as 6:30 p.m., with programs for both adults and juniors.
