The Donahue Academy Shamrocks earned their second trip to the state championships Friday night when Elias Allan connected with Anthony Altomare on a 40-yard touchdown pass in the final two minutes to beat the City of Life Warriors 36-30 on the Warriors' home field in St. Cloud, FL.
It was the Warriors' first loss of the season and the Shamrocks now move on to face unbeaten Clearwater Academy, who handed Donahue its only loss of the season a few weeks ago.
Donahue jumped out to a 22-0 lead after the first quarter and led 28-8 at the half. But that would the all the Shamrocks' scoring until the dramatic touchdown pass in the closing minutes, by which time they were trailing 30-28.
Dominic Allan sacked the City of Life quarterback in the final seconds to help seal the win.
The championship game against Clearwater will be Saturday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. at Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL.
