Awards keep piling up for Tommy Smith.
The Rhodora J.Donahue Academy senior has been named the school's "Graduate of Distinction," an honor bestowed each year by teachers at the academy.
"I feel the reason I was chosen lies with my parents," he told the Naples Daily News. "They managed to instill a love of learning in me. Consequently, I became good at it."
A few weeks ago, Tommy was named one of the first recipients of the Alex Klucik Leadership Award at the school's sports banquet -- a newly-created award that recognizes academic and athletic achievement as well as leadership and dedication to Catholic values.
Tommy excelled academically, earning a 4.18 GPA, and was a leader of the school's Cross-Country team. Earlier in the year he was named a National Merit Scholarship finalist.
He will be attending the University of Kentucky in the fall, concentrating on classics and literature.
