Donahue Scholar Bowl Team Off to Good Start

The Scholar Bowl team from the Donahue Academy of Ave Maria served notice Saturday that it may be a force to be reckoned with in the 2014-15 season, outscoring teams from larger schools in opening matches.
Donahue's team finished first and third in two five-team matches against competition that included Barron Collier High School, Naples High School, Golden Gate High School, Community School of Naples and Gulf Coast High School.
This was the first of three match days leading up to the area tournament in February. Future matches are Dec. 6 and Jan. 24.
The team, pictured at right, consists of veterans Thomas Smith (Grade 12), Thomas Dauphinais (Grade 11) and C.J. Smith (Grade 11),and Kealan Vasquez (Grade 10) and Caroline Sikuta (Grade 9), who were competing for the first time. The team is coached by Dr. Michael Dauphinais of Ave Maria University.
