Medical Clinic in Ave Maria Closes

The medical practice in the Ave Maria town center has closed little more than a year after it opened.

The clinic, which replaced the EPN Urgent Care Clinic that had been in the space on Seton St. for five years, originally offered OB/GYN services, urgent care, and had a primary care practitioner available a few days a week. The urgent care services were discontinued early this year and the OB/GYN doctors left in June to become affiliated with another medical practice, said clinic owner Michael Presley.

"It is unfortunate because I really like Ave Maria," Mr. Presley said, adding that once the OB/GYN component of the practice was discontinued the clinic was not financially sustainable for his organization.

"The right personnel could make a go of it," he added.

Cee Cee Marinelli of Ave Maria Development said the company is "actively working to find another medical group."

Dr. Beau Braden, who moved to Ave Maria this year and works as an Emergency Medicine Physician at NCH hospitals in Naples, offers what is described in his brochure as a "telemedicine clinic" to town residents. An employee of Ave Maria University also said that the university is making arrangements with Dr. Braden to provide medical services for students. Dr. Braden declined an Ave Herald request for further details of either arrangement.
