Donahue Wins Convincingly in Final Home Game of Season

matt1The Donahue Academy Shamrocks took advantage of a depleted Eastland Christian team that was missing three of its starters to roll to a 52-22 win Friday night in the final regular-season football game at the Donahue home field at North Park in Ave Maria. (Pictured at right: the team honored its sole senior, Matt Klein, at halftime. Randy Beidelshies figured in five of the Shamrocks' seven touchdowns, running for three scores, catching one touchdown pass and throwing for another. Dominic Allan and Andrew Scanlan caught touchdown passes as quarterback Elias Allan completed 10 of 13 passes for 171 yards and three touchdowns.

Jake Carletta recovered a fumbled snap in the end zone for a defensive TD. Reed Lawe had 6.5 tackles and Dominic Allan added 6 tackles. Sean Doman had 5.5 tackles and Mark Cheffers had an interception.

"Overall the team played well against a beat up and depleted Eastland team," said coach Rich Scanlon.
"Next week's game against FISH up in Plant City will be very much tougher. A win against FISH, however, will give a big boost to Donahue's playoff hopes," the coach added.
