Donahue Wins; Advances to Playoffs

The Donahue Academy Shamrocks clinched their 7-man football conference title Saturday with a 46-20 win over Masters Academy before a hometown crowd at North Park in Ave Maria.

The Shamrocks have an automatic berth in the playoffs, although they need to wait until later in the week to find out their opponent.

"I was very proud of the way our team played," said Coach Rich Scanlon. "Our seniors led the way to a 40-0 halftime lead in their final regular-season home game."

Dan Scanlan had 140 yards receiving on 6 receptions, including a 70 yard TD reception on the game's 2nd play from scrimmage. Matt Houde had 3 receptions for 60 yards and two TD's. Luke Scheck added a 25 yard TD reception. John Longley was 10/14 for 245 yards and 4 TD's passing. Lane Lawe and Dominic Allen added rushing TD's. Matt Houde, Dominic Allen, Dan Scanlan and John Hurley each added a two point conversion.

Dominic Allen led the defense with 5 tackles and a forced fumble. Cale Schneider added 4.5 tackles a QB sack and a fumble recovery. JP Klucik had 4 tackles, a QB sack and a forced fumble and John Hurley added a fumble recovery.

The Shamrocks will have a scrimmage on the road against Clearwater Academy Thursday as they wait for the playoff seedings.
