Gyrenes Win Again!

Ave Maria University has started to win football games.
The Gyrenes won their second straight game Saturday -- their first ever back-to-back wins -- beating Concordia 48-34 in Selma, Ala. The Gyrenes record this yar improved to 2-2.
Scott Jones had a career day with four rushing touchdowns including the go-ahead touchdown om the final two minutes of play.
With the game knotted at 34, Jones broke through the line and into the endzone with 1:30 remaining. On the ensuing Hornets drive, linebacker Tanneer Bowling returned an interception for a touchdown to secure the win for the Blue and Green.
The Gyrenes got off to a quick start and held the lead for most of the game. But Concordia came back and was able to tie the game with just over five minutes to play in the fourth quarter before the Gyrenes pulled away.
Clayton Uecker completed touchdown passes to Rashad Kelley and Karim Bryant.
On the defensive end, Tanner Bowling had an interception return for a touchdown. Gage Hayes and Mike Baumgardner also had interceptions for Ave Maria.
The Gyrenes return home Saturday, Oct. 12, for their first game on the campus of Ave Maria, taking on Florida Tech at 1 p.m.
