Fire Closes AMU Dorm Temporarily

An overheated laptop computer left on a couch is being cited as the cause of a fire in a dormitory common room at Ave Maria University Monday that closed the dorm temporarily, displacing hundreds of students for much of the late afternoon and evening.
AMU spokesperson Brigid O'Malley said no one was injured and that damage -- mostly from water sprinklers -- was confined to the common room at the Mother Theresa residence hall, which is the north wing of the megadorm.
