Marian Statue from Fatima in Ave Maria March 14-15

marystatue2aA statue known as the "International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima" left Fatima shortly after being carved there in 1947. It has been touring the world ever since, and will be at the Ave Maria oratory Thursday and Friday, March 14-15.

The statue was sculpted according to a description by Sr. Lucia, one of the three seers who experienced the visions of the Blessed Mother in 1917. Sent out to bring the message of Fatima to the world, it has been around the globe several times, visiting more than 100 countries, including Russia and China.

For its stop in Ave Maria, there will be a procession of the statue Thursday evening, beginning outside of the entrance of the oratory Church at 7 p.m. and processing into the Church up to the Sanctuary.

The statue's current custodian, Carl Malburg, will then give a talk about it, which will be followed by a Rosary, a Consecration to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, a Litany to Our Lady, Benediction and closing prayers and hymn. Afterwards the statue will be on display for personal prayer and adoration until the Church closes at 10 p.m. Friday morning, the statue will remain in the sanctuary for personal prayer and adoration until 11:30 a.m., after which it will continue its month-long tour of Florida.
