Red was everywhere in North Park in Ave Maria Sunday as hundreds of junior soccer players in the Chicago Fire Juniors organization in Naples turned out with their families for the Major League Fire's first exhibition match of the season.
The Fire scored twice in the second of three 30-minute periods to defeat Florida Gulf Coast University 2-0.
The club arrived in Ave Maria a week ago for a 10-day start to their spring training. They conclude the Florida part of the pre-season Wednesday with a game in Bradenton against the Columbus Crew, then they will be in California for the second leg of training.
