Kevin Joyce Named New Head Institutional Advancement at AMU

As the new year approaches, so does another new job for the versatile Kevin Joyce at Ave Maria University.
The next challenge for Mr. Joyce (right) is heading up the school's development efforts as Vice President of Institutional Advancement, a move announced by the university in a statement Monday. He succeeds Lou Traina, who left AMU earlier in the fall.
In his new position overseeing all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, alumni affairs, and communication with external constituencies , Mr. Joyce is returning to the department he first worked for when he joined Ave Maria University in the fall of 2010 after serving as a state representative in the Illinois legislature. He was later appointed a a special assistant to AMU President Jim Towey and was named the athletic director and head football coach in January, 2012.
His responsibilities as athletic director will be taken over by AMU Baseball Coach Shawn Summe (left) and the football team's offensive co-ordinator, Marty Quinn, will become the head football coach.
"Kevin Joyce did a great job expanding participation in our intercollegiate sports programs to over 300 men and women and re-establishing the Ave Maria football team," Mr. Towey said in a statement. "We need him to lead the development efforts of the University and I am sure his familiarity with athletics will help us as we improve our athletic facilities and expand our programs in the years ahead."
Mr. Summe has been the Gyrenes baseball coach since 2009, and for the last year has also served as assistant athletic director. He'll continue as head coach of the baseball team as well.
