"Dancing Through the Decades" Theme of Dance Recital Saturday

dance2aMore than 120 dancers will perform routines spanning seven decades Saturday at the fourth annual Ave Maria Dance Academy recital.

The recital is the capstone event for the dancers, who come from Ave Maria, Immokalee, Golden Gate Estates and other areas of southwest Florida.

They will stage 25 different numbers in a variety of styles from the 1940s to today, said Ave Maria Dance Academy owner Karen Ledesma.

The recital is at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the auditorium of Palmetto Ridge High School on Oil Well Rd. It is open to the public, and reserved seats can be purchased in advance for $10 each or at the door for $12.

dance3a"We believe dance should be an integral part of every child's education because it enhances their creative abilities, stimulates their self-esteem, and helps them to develop essential life skills," Mrs. Ledsema said.
