AMU Signs 2 Linemen for 2012 Football Season

Ave Maria University announced the signing of two linemen Thursday as new head football coach Kevin Joyce rebuilds the school's football team after a rough first season.
Josh Ambau (right), a 6-3, 230-pound lineman from St. Michael the Archangel High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is a versatile player who Coach Joyce says is one of the "premier long snappers in the country." In addition to his athleticism, Ambeau sports a 4.3 GPA and is discerning for the priesthood for the diiocese of Baton Rouge.
Ambeau selected Ave Maria University over a handful of Ivy League institutions "because of its Catholic nature and uncompromising values," a statemenbt from the school said.
Ave Maria also announced the signing of Sebastian Woods-Mariano, a standout lineman from Lake Howell High School in Orlando, FL.
Sebastian (left with Head Coach Joyce), 5-11, 256 pounds, was named to the 2011 All-Seminole County Athletic Conference First Team and was his team's captain.
"I think by doing this (coming to Ave Maria), I have taken the right step in the right direction for my faith, education and my passion," Sebastian said.
