Around Del Webb...
By June McCann
A son in Rome... Del Webb resident Jinny Oliver is a very proud Mom these days—her son, Monsignor Robert Oliver, has been named to the new position of Secretary of the anti-abuse commission at the Vatican. His new duties will be to run the day to day operations of the commission which has Cardinal
Sean P. O'Malley as President. Monsignor Oliver had previously served as the Promoter of Justice in the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, a role akin to a District Attorney's position in the United States with regard to offenses under Church law which fall under the Congregation's jurisdiction.
Monsignor Robert said: "This is a chance to address all the issues that have to do with the protection of children, not just Catholics but children everywhere—this is such a great problem all around the world and it's important for the Church to be in the lead."
Family matters...Dee Justus travelled with husband Ray to Rhode Island for Dee's Family Reunion, held July 6 -12. Dee celebrated "with all of them—nine grandchildren from the ages of 6 to 23." Pictured at right is a very happy family group enjoying summertime fun.
Friends Abroad... While on a vacation in Ireland, Pat and Ken Kleinrichert visited with Joe and JoEllen Monahan at the Monahans' newly acquired home in Dingle.
Pictured left are from left: Joe, Joe's friend Gunther Freye from Berlin, Germany ,JoEllen and Ken and Pat. Travelling just two hours north to Corofin, the Kleinricherts enjoyed a visit with Del Webb residents Pat and Ann Edwards (below right).
We will miss you...But Jo Makley's family in Kentucky are the really lucky recipients of Jo's move! Jo sent this picture (below left) with the caption: "Why I'm staying here in KY!" And what a beautiful family this is! Pictured here are Jo's GREAT GRANDCHILDREN! Jo(Claudette) has been in Del Webb since the beginning and is a two-time Panther Run 9-Hole Golf Champion. Enjoy your family, Jo, but we expect a visit or two before long!
