"It's very satisfying to wake up and know that today I'm going to carve the Annunciation," Mr. Váró told a Lifelong Education session Saturday morning. He explained his craft and his calling -- and the surprising inspiration that made him want to become a sculptor.

Work Begins on Annunciation Sculture for Oratory

Sculptor Marton Varo chiseled the first chip out of a12-ton block of marble on the university mall Thursday morning, beginning the project to sculp a bas relief of The Annunciation for the oratory.
