Ave Maria Now Has Sheriff's Deputy Patrolling Full Time

 A Collier County Sheriff's Office deputy now is assigned to Ave Maria 24 hours a day, seven days a week, following a realignment that now has Ave Maria under the jurisdiction of the Immokalee district.

 A total of 74 triathletes rode through Ave Maria Saturday and hundreds more in the half-triathlon turned around at the main gate on Oil Well Rd. Among those in the half triatthlon was NASCAR champion driver Jimmie Johnson, competing in his first triathlon.

Ave Maria University President Jim Towey delivered the keynote address at a prayer breakfast prior to Gov. Rick Scott's inauguration in Talahassee, sounding a familiar theme of the importance of religious freedom and asking all Floridians to pray for the governor.
