 Fifty years separate the ages of two graduates of the Ave Maria School of Law, which held its commencement exercises Saturday. John Arceri, 70, is believed to be the oldest law school graduate ever in Florida and Mellina Fortunato, 20, one of the youngest.

Ave Maria University has announced that it has signed a letter of intent with another Florida school, Keiser University, to take over the Latin American campus July 1. AMU President Jim Towey also announced that it will achieve significant savings by consolidating various debt obligations through bonds that Standard & Poors's has rated as "investment grade, declaring that AMU's "outlook stable."

 Gov. Rick Scott had words of practical advice for Ave Maria University graduates in his Commencement speech Saturday, urging them, among other things, to stay out of debt and treasure family and personal relationships. AMU conferred 164 undergraduate and 16 graduate degrees.

 Commencement events at Ave Maria University began Friday afternoon with the Baccalaureate Mass, followed by the President's Dinner at which Zach Crockett was named the recipient of this year's President's Award. The Mobil gas station and convenience store on Ave Maria Blvd. now is scheduled to open the "week of May 13," says Phil Toye of Automated Petroleum and Energy, which will operate the station. Paving of the parking lot has been completed and work now has moved to the inside of the convenience store.
