The Ave Maria University baseball team has signed its first recruit, Blake Urquhart, a standout pitcher/infielder who played his senior year at Fort Myers High School. Urquhart had an outstanding season on the mound, going 8-3 with an ERA of 1.95, and throwing two no-hitters.

He also played 3rd base and shortstop, hitting .433 for his high school career.

Urquhart says he is committed to Ave Maria and completing his undergraduate degree even if he is selected next month in the Major League Baseball draft. In addition to his athletic accomplishments, he sports a 3.4 GPA.
