Cameron Joyce threw four touchdown passes and rushed for two more TDs Friday night as the Donahue Academy Shamrocks defeated F.I.S.H 55-34 at North Park in Ave Maria to advance to the semi-finals of the Florida state sixman football chamjpionships.
" I was very proud of the way our guys played together," said Coach Rich Scanlon after the game. " We faced adversity against a very good football team and we overcame it. Our seniors showed great leadership and the rest of the members of the team played well together and supported one another. Our attitude was one of expectancy -- we expected to win."
Gabe Allen also had one rushing touchdown and caught two of Joyce's TD passes. Matt Houde had one rushing TD and Joe Guernsey and Nick Jaroma had a receiving TD each. Defensively, Coach Scanlon said, the team was led by Joe Chiemelowski and Jake Schneider.
UPDATE: The Shamrocks will play their semi-final game against Lakeside Christian of Clearwater Friday, Nov. 25, at a NEW TIME -- 3 p.m., moved up from the previously-scheduled start time of 5 p.m.in Safety Harbor.
