If ygyreneburger1ou've been wondering what a Gyrene Burger tastes like, you'll have a chance to find out at the Marine Corps Birthday Ball Friday at Ave Maria University.

AMU founder Tom Monaghan, who is planning to begin operation of the the Gyrene Burger hamburger delivery busines in Naples in early December, will be the guest of honor at the dinner and his burger creation will be the main course.

Although the actual Gyrene Burger delivery business will offer just hamburgers -- no sides or drinks -- the menu on Friday night will include traditional french fries and other side dishes along with ample hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour, said Stephen Henley, one of the event organizers.

The burger served will the the "deluxe" -- with two Angus beef patties, bacon, cheese, mayo, lettuce and tomato on a fresh-baked bun.

The Marine Corps Birthday Ball begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes a cocktail hour, dinner and dancing. Admission is $40 per person/$75 per couple with proceeds to benefit the Military Scholars program at AMU.
