Thoughts and memories of former Ave Maria University campus pro-life leader Jon Scharfenberger played a large part in the AMU Students for Life's seventh annual pro-life gala Sunday.
Siobhan Timp (right), a theology major who intends to do missionary work after graduation, received the organization's first pro-life award dedicated to the memory of Mr. Scharfenberger, who died from injuries suffered in a car accident in Georgia, where he was returning from a pro-life conference. The young man was a leader of the Students for Life chapter at AMU before he graduated in May and went on to work for the national organization.
A video slide show on Mr. Scharfenberger's life, prepared by his sister, Kim, a student at AMU, was shown and his former roommate, Stephen Lombardo, recalled memories of his friend.
The guest speaker was Jason Jones (left), the co-producer of the pro-life movie Bella.
Below right, the youngest guest at the dinner, Sarah Forero and her mother, Veronica. Veronica's mother, Nora Abandano, from Columbia, also attended. Sarah is the youngest of four girls and the family lives in Ave Maria.
