It was a day of
d6-9172ablowouts for Ave Maria's football teams.

Following a lopsided loss by Ave Maria University in its first home football game Saturday, The Donahue Academy Shamrocks scored an impressive 54-26 win over Island Christian School in a evening sixman football contest at North Park.

Julian Gonzalez scored twice, once on a a 70-yard interception return and once rushing, and Cameron Joyce and Nick Jaroma also notched two touchdowns each. Jake Schneider and Matt Houde scored the other Shamrocks TDs.

Donahue was coming off its first loss of the season last week and now is 3-1 on the season.

"Fundamentally, we played much better this week especially in the areas of blocking and tackling," Coach Rich Scanlon said after the game.

The Shamrocks next play Saturday, Sept. 24, against Canterbury School at 7 p.m. at North Park. The full schedule and season results are here.
