Ave Maria University has filled another key position on new prtraina2esident Jim Towey's senior management team.

AMU announced Friday that it has hired Dr. Louis Traina as Vice President of Institutional Advancement, a role similar to one he was in since 1998 at nearby Hodges University. At Hodges, the university said in a news release, Dr. Traina established the development office and led efforts that raised tens of millions of dollars.

Mr. Towey said that Dr. Traina "will be a key architect as Ave Maria University shapes our next advancement campaign," adding that, "He is highly regarded in the Naples community and because he is a long-time resident of Southwest Florida, he will be able to hit the ground running."

"I am looking forward to building on the great mission and vision that is evident in Ave Maria University," Dr. Traina said.

He will start at AMU Oct. 7, the same day as the Inauguration of Mr. Towey as the second president of Ave Maria University.

Dr. Traina takes over responsibility for AMU's fundraising activities from Dr. Carole Carpenter, has assumed a position working directly for university founder Tom Monaghan in his efforts to raise money and promote Ave Maria University.
