AMU Granted SACS Candidacy

The decision clears the first hurdle toward full accreditation from SACS. After candidacy is granted, it can take up to two years for an institution to receive full accreditation, according to information posted on the SACS website.

AMU was granted full accreditation earlier this year from the American Academy for Liberal Education, a national accrediting organization. SACS accreditation is important, though, because most colleges and universities in the United States consider accreditation from the regional accrediting authority a major factor in recognizing degrees and credits.
