Brush Fire North of Donahue Academy

UPDATE: fire2Fire crews from Immokalee, Big Corkscrew and the Florida Forestry Department quickly contained a brush fire that broke out shortly before 11 a.m. Monday just north of the Donahue Academy and east of the Ave Maria Emerson Park neighborhood.

The fire burned over several acres at its peak, but by 1 p.m. it appeared to be largely extinguished although crews continued fighting several hot spots. Neither the Donahue Academy school building nor the residential neighborhood was threatened as the fire stayed hundreds of yards away. The Donahue Academy is not in session this week for spring break.
