This weekend is the start of a busy spring season for the Ave Maria University choir.
The Ave Maria Chamber Choir will perform with a professional orchestra Sunday, Feb. 20, at 4 p.m. at Moorings Presbyterian Church in Naples.
"The music, which includes Mozart's famous 'Laudate Dominum,' is vibrant and scintillating with energy," said Tim McDonnell, director of the choir and chair of AMU's music department. "It's a real tour de force for an agile chorus and orchestra."
Admission is $15 on Sunday with proceeds benefiting the AMU music department. The program also will be performed Saturday at 7 p.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Cape Coral with free admission.
The chorus also has a major event coming up Saturday, March 26, when its 70 voices will combine with the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra choir of 100 to perform Mahler's 2nd Symphony with the SW Florida Symphony at the Barbara Mann Hall in Fort Myers. More information and ticket ordering is available at the SWFLSO website here.
The choir also will perform several times at AMU during Lent.
