The trappings of the Queen Mary Pub may be British, but it's American football that's drawing sports fans to the pub these fall weekends.
The Queen Mary is aiming to become the weekend football headquarters in Ave Maria. Proprieter Daniel Dix added NFL Sunday Ticket this year, which will make any NFL game available on the pub's high-definition televisions.
"We had a lot of interest in NFL Sunday Ticket," Mr. Dix said, "because so many residents and students come from other parts of the country."
To go along with the games, the pub also is offering a special menu on weekends featuring six different selections for less than $6.
The football action won't only be on the television screens. Ten residents, including Mr. Dix, have teams in the pub's fantasy football league.
"We'll be posting standings each week so people can follow how the teams are faring," Mr. Dix said.
"It will be interesting," he said. "A few of the participants have never been in a fantasy league before, including me. But it should be fun."
Other participants in the Queen Mary's league are: Forrest Wallace, Mark McCullough, Melissa and Joe Burke, Daryl Klein, Tom DiFlorio, Martin Doman, Jim Kelly and The Ave Herald.
