The supervisors will be asked to approve a draft recommendation to create a board that will "prepare and administer design and architectural standards for non-residential buildings and structures within Ave Maria," according to a letter to Collier County authorities. If the AMSCD board approves proceeding, Ave Maria will ask the county for formal approval to create the board.
Designs for non-residential buildings in Ave Maria currently fall under the county's Land Development Code. But the letter says that the "traditional suburban-oriented architectural and design standards" contained in that code are not well suited to "the architectural, aesthetic, and design elements of the Ave Maria Town and University."
The proposed Design Review Board would have seven members, two of which must be "properly licensed and/or certified architects, planners, landscape architects, or engineers" appointed by the AMSCD board. The board would also appoint three other members: an "owner, operator or authorized representative" of one of the town's businesses; a resident; and an "at-large" member. Ave Maria Development and Ave Maria University also would each appoint one person to the board.
The agenda for the meeting also shows a construction update that will include Oil Well Rd., a Security Status Update and a discussion of Master Utility Rates.
The agenda is below.
