The conference, which will be held from Feb. 2-5, is open to all.
Other speakers at the conference will address aspects of Catholicism and America involving cultural life, theology, higher education and the relations between faith, reason and science as well as freedom of religion in a pluralist society.
Matters pertaining to religious freedom will be a main part of a talk Feb. 3 by noted Catholic author George Weigel (right), who will speak on "John Courtney Murray Revisited: The Catholic Defense of Truths We Once Held." Fr. Murray, a Jesuit priest who died in 1967, played a key role in the adoption by the Second Vatican Council of its ground-breaking Declaration on Religious Liberty, Dignitatis Humanae. Daniel Mahoney of Assumption College will also address religious freedom in his talk Feb. 5.
Thomas Hibbs of Baylor College will talk on Catholic higher education in America; Peter Augustine Lawler of Berry College will talk on Faith Reason and Science in America.
Receptions will be held after the talks where those attending can meet Cardinal George and other speakers. Accommodation on campus at the Aquinas Conference Center can be requested by contacting Christine Collins through the conference center's web page here.
