The comedy The Man Who Came Dinner opened Friday night in the student union ballroom. Written by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, is about a nasty dinner guest who slips and falls on his arrival and then has to stay for several weeks -- monopolizing the household with hilarious results. Right, the cast and some of the crew.
“I think the play will give the Ave Maria community a great opportunity to see an accomplished theater production.” said Alex Pince, an actor in the play.
“It’s definitely been an adventure,” said the play’s director, Paula Dodd, a junior at Ave Maria. “This has been a big learning experience for me. My actors have put in a lot of hard work, had fun with it and I’m excited to see them perform.”
Miss Dodd has performed in the school's spring musicals for the last two years, but this is her directorial debut. “I’ve got good helpers. I asked a lot of my friends and they did makeup, costumes, set construction. Without them, this would never have happened.”
“My favorite thing about the play is when everyone’s in the mood, having fun and it goes the way it should go and at the end you feel, 'Wow. That felt good!.'”
The Man Who Came to Dinner will be performed Nov. 6 and Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children and students.
