Following the successful debut of its six-man football squad, the Donahue Academy now is adding girls basketball to its sports program.
The school is holding an organizational meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, for players and parents and says that homeschoolers in Ave Maria are also welcome. The team is for grades 8-12.
Donahue Academy introduced boys basketball last year.
The Donahue Academy girls team will be coached by Mary Reed, who also coaches the Ave Maria University volleyball team.
Coach Reed says that in their first year, the Donahue Academy girls will play smaller private schools and teams of homeschooled girls. For further information, call Coach Reed at 239-280-2503.
A schedule of games will be available on The Ave Herald when it is available.
