Dozens of Ave Maria residents and students joined at least 100 people who gathered and prayed peacefully Monday outside Planned Parenthood in Naples to protest the start of abortion services at the facility.
About 20 people left in carpools from Ave Maria after the 7:30 Mass, joined by others later in the day. Earlier, a number of students from Ave Maria University held a prayer vigil starting at midnight. (At right, AMU student Christy Soboleski - photo by Naples Daily News)
"We're here to pray, just pray, for the women who enter that building," AMU Students for Life President John Scharfenberger said in an interview with WINK-TV. (Click here to see that story)
Elaine Doerrfeld, head of the Ave Maria parish Respect Life Committee, said the group may be back again.
