Resident Assesments Slightly Lower in AMSCD Budget

Residents will pay about $30 less than last year under the 2009-2010 budget proposed for the Ave Maria Stewardship Community District. The budget, which will be reviewed and adopted at the special district's Aug. 4 meeting, reduces operating, maintenance and administrative expenses by about 20 percent. The overall assessment amount increases, however, to $4,646,903 from $3,855,498 the previous year because of debt interest charges carried over from the previous year.

The district assessments cover expenses specifically relating to Ave Maria, and are in addition to Collier County property taxes. The assessments are based on the type of property, which in the proposed budget is $798.37 for townhouses  and condominiums, and $1,258.37 for other residential properties.

The meeting to review and adopt the budget is open to all, and will be held at the Ave Maria Master Association facilities at 9 a.m. Aug. 4. Regulations stipulate that the budget must be reviewed and voted on at that meeting, so anyone wishing to ask questions or comment should attend the meeting.
