Organizer Michael Suchomski, whose household the Brotherhood of Divine Love sponsors the festival, says he expects films in a variety of genres. "There will probably be a number of comedies," he said, adding that popular prize-winning entries in previous years have included spoofs of the television shows 24 and The Office, and a film called The Fall of Man about how technology can rule lives.
All films are produced by students, and the festival is run entirely by students. Films must be a maximum of 20 minutes long and content must be "appropriate," Mr. Suchomski, an AMU sophomore, said.
Prizes are awarded, with a grand prize of $300 for the best film, $150 for the winner of the "People's Choice" award and $50 for the winner of the Bob Hope Award for best comedy.
All are welcome to attend. The event starts at 8 p.m. and tickets will be sold at the door. Admission is $5 for the general public and $2 for students. Popcorn and other refreshments will be available.
