The Donahue Academy Shamrocks scored their first touchdown in the opening minutes of their home football opener Friday at North Park in Ave Maria, then romped to a 50-7 win over First Coast Christian from Jacksonville.
The Shamrocks have won all three of their games this year in convincing fashion, outscoring their opponents 138-20.
Donahue dominated on both sides of the ball. Thomas Donohue and Sean Doman returned fumbles for touchdowns. Mark Cheffers had 100 yards receiving and a touchdown. Quarterback Elias Allan threw for one touchdown and rushed for another while Randy Beidelschies, JP Klucik and Uriel Martinez also scored touchdowns on the ground.
"We had good effort all around," said Coach Rich Scanlon. "I was especially proud of the younger guys who played in the second half. They played hard and did well. This was a good preparation for next week's big game against City of Life (Orlando). They are a very athletic team and we will be challenged. This will be our biggest test of the season and, perhaps our most important game for play-off implications."
Next week's game is at home at North Park, beginning at 7 p.m.
