The Donahue Academy football team turned a slim one-point lead at halftime into a rout Friday, overwhelming Master's Academty 32-13 in a game at Vero Beach. The Shamrocks remain undefeated at 7-0 for the season.
"Mark Cheffers played the best game of his football career," said head coach Rich Scanlon. He turned in an impressive performance on both sides of the ball, scoring two touchdowns on five receptions for 161 yards and intercepting three passes on defense.
Elias Allan had eight completions for 244 yards, three touchdowns and added 67 yards rushing. his brother Dominic led the defense with 13 tackles and added an interception.
"On a very hot afternoon, I thought our team showed character," Coach Scanlon said. "This team was capable of starting the second half with a big defensive stand and scoring three TD's while holding Master's scoreless. We are looking forward to returning home next week against Solid Rock who are big and physical."
