July 1st marked a day of transition for two educational institutions founded by Tom Monaghan in addition to Ave Maria University.
Kevin Cieply (pictured meeting with the law school staff on his first day) took up the leadership of the Ave Maria School of Law as its new president and dean, succeeding Eugene Milhizer who will continue at the law school as a professor.
The new law school president came to the Ave Maria law school from the John Marshall School of Law in Atlanta, where he was the dean of academics. Prior to that he spent 22 years in the U.S. Army and National Guard, serving much of the time as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer.
The Rhodora J. Donahue Academy had one headmaster since its founding in 2007 until Gina Code (below left) took over July 1 as head of the school from Headmaster Dan Guernsey, who will be moving across the road to chair the Ave Maria University education department.
Mrs. Code moved south to Ave Maria from Cincinnati, fulfilling a long-time ambition to live in Florida. In Cincinnati, she was principal at the St. Veronica Catholic School, where the student body grew by 28 percent under her five years of leadership.
Her three children will attend Donahue Academy beginning in the fall.
