jerry6-350For six years, Jerry Krueger was as much a part of the fabric of life for merchants and residents in Ave Maria's town center as the towering presence of the oratory.

Mr. Krueger is retiring from Ave Maria Development after working in Ave Maria since the town's inception doing, well, anything that needed to be done to keep things running properly.

Always happy to help, Mr. Krueger handled any maintenance task in the town center, ranging from major repairs to helping residents cope with everyday problems.

"He's a great guy, who always had a great attitude," one resident said.

"Jerry has contributed greatly to the success of Ave Maria," Barron Collier's Cee Cee Marinelli told a gathering of his friends and co-workers at the Queen Mary Pub Tuesday afternoon. "I'm sure the residents and merchants are going to miss him as will the Ave Maria Development team." Above, Mr. Krueger, second from left, with Ave Maria Development colleagues.

The feeling was mutual. "I'm really going to miss the fine people of Ave Maria," Mr. Krueger said.
