Michael Dauphinais Named AMU VP of Academic Affairs

dauphinais-1Michael Dauphinais, who has served for a year as Ave Maria University's interim VP of Academic Affairs, has been appointed outright to the position, university President Jim Towey announced Thursday night at a fundraising dinner in Naples.

Dr. Dauphinais, the AMU dean of faculty since its move to Florida from Michigan, was named the interim Academic Affairs VP when Jack Sites retired at the end of 2011.

"I have been impressed by his commitment to excellence and devotion to the best interests of Ave Maria," Mr. Towey said in a note to the university's students, faculty and staff about the appointment. "His contributions as professor, writer, and administrator have won over colleagues and brought honor to the University."

Dr. Dauphinais holds an undergraduate and masters degrees in theology from Duke University and a Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame.
