The Ave Maria University Choirs will begin the season of Advent with their popular performance of Lessons and Carols in the Ave Maria Oratory at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.
This community tradition in Ave Maria will feature choral ensembles totalling 85 student voices accompanied by a professional string orchestra performing hymns and carols of the season to complement scripture readings.
The program offers the opportunity for the community to join the choirs in a number of masterworks from the heritage of the Advent celebration, which will include Handel's Hallelujah, Monteverdi's Beatus vir, the Cantique de Jean Racine by Fauré, and Healy Willan's Hodie, Christus natus est, and a number of other familiar pieces associated with the Advent season.
All are welcome to attend and admission is free.
