Costume Contest, Games Highlight Family Fun Friday

Some strong gusts of wind, a few showers of rain, and lots of fun were in the air Friday at the second monthly Family Fun Friday event held in the Ave Maria town center.

Dozens of kids took part in a competition for the best costume, won by sisters Emily and Teresa Henderson, dressed in homemade clown get-ups. (below, left)

There also was music and games, including a popular hula hoop competition. Right, kids warmed warmed up for the hula hoop contest. In the background is a table from Collier Family Farms, which handed out small pumpkins. The farm will grow and sell seasonal produce.

Family Fun Fridays are held the last Friday of each month, except for November, when the Ave Maria Celebration of Lights will be held Nov. 30, the last Friday in November. Right, DJ Tom Diflorio provided the music, assisted by Monty the cat, winner of the event's costume contest for pets.
