Only in Florida, perhaps, would a financial institution have two official ribbon-cutting ceremonies at different times opening the same bank branch.
But such is the nature of seasonal business in southwest Florida, so Shamrock Bank, which opened the doors of its branch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 13 -- in time for the arrival of students at Ave Maria University -- held a second ribbon-cutting event Tuesday, Oct. 16 -- in time for the arrival of the town's "snowbird" seasonal residents.
The fall event drew a large crowd of residents, business people and local dignitaries to the branch, which currently is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Plenty of food and goodies were on hand for those attending. Above right, Jason Rummer, Operations Officer at Gyrene Burger, serves burgers, which were part of the fare.
Shamrock Bank founder Tom Monaghan was on hand along with other officers and directors of the bank. Left, Mr. Monaghan being interviewed by Hanno Settele, the Washington bureau chief for the Austrian broadcast network ORF, who was in Ave Maria doing a story on the town and the university.
