The Donahue Academy Shamrocks scored the first points allowed by Grace Academy this season, but they were not enough as the Shamrocks fell 25-6 in a game played in a heavy downpour in Fort Lauderdale Friday afternoon.

Donahue's points came on a 30-yard touchdown pass from John Longley to Matt Houde. On defense, Joe Chmielowski and Nathan Gay each had foursacks and 10 tackles, and Gay also recovered a fumble.

"We gave tremendous effort today despite the heavy rain," said Shamrocks Coach Rich Scanlon. "Unfortunately, the rain prevented our offense from getting on track.  We had trouble gripping the ball and gave up 5 turnovers, which was too much too overcome.  Grace is very athletic and talented and they deserve alot of credit."

Grace returned two interceptions for TD's and showed strong resiliance. On one play, Grace fumbled the ball backwards 25 yards, picked it up and ran for a TD.

Donahue's next game is their last home game of the season, Saturday, Sept. 29 in North Park in Ave Maria.
