Record Number of Students on Campus at AMU

Ave Maria University has announced a record enrollment this fall of almost 900 undergraduate students, an increase of more than 20 percent from last fall, which university President Jim Towey calls "simply amazing."

Mr. Towey announced in a campus-wide email Thursday that the final registration numbers show an undergraduate enrollment of 895, including 876 full-time students. The school had significant increases in new admissions -- up to 377 from 300 last fall -- as well as returning students -- 499 this fall compared with 433 last fall.

The number of students living on campus has also grown, Mr. Towey said, to 778 this year from 597 last year.

"The university has never recruited or retained better," Mr. Towey said, "and, thankfully, the average ACT and SAT scores of our new freshman class are higher than last year's cohort."
