AMSCD Meeting Will Review Budget, Meeting Rules Print E-mail
Thursday, 05 August 2010 10:15

Ave Maria homeowners will see no increase in their assessments under the budget proposed for the Ave Maria Stewardship Community District's 2010-2011 fiscal year beginning Oct. 1.

The budget, which will be considered at a public hearing at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, is essentially flat with no substantive changes from the current year's budget. The proposed assessments, which would appear this fall on Collier County real estate tax bills, would remain the same at $1,258.37 for a single-family home and $798.37 for townhomes, condos and villas. The budget shows total revenues of $4,651,019 of which $1,445,389 is for operations and maintenance and the balance for servicing and payment of debt. Homeowners pay about 25% of the costs through assessments, with the other 75% contributed by the developers.

The meeting agenda has an item titled "Review of District Rules and Procedures," which appears to be aimed at setting specific guidelines for public comments during the meetings. Recent meetings, including the last one June 8, have had fractious stretches where residents ignored the agenda and did not ask for recognition from the meeting chair before speaking. The June 8 meeting was about twice as long as normal due to frequent interruptions and discussions of items either outside the purview of the board or not on the agenda, most of which were raised by resident Marielena Montesino Stuart  (See previous Ave Herald story here)

Herb Cambridge, a member of the board since its inception, will be attending his last meeting Tuesday. He said at the June 8 meeting that he planned to resign, but decided to continue serving until the Aug. 10 meeting, which will be the expiry of his term on the board.

Other items on the agenda for the meeting, which is in the Master Association offices in the town center, include mosquito control, a facilities report and setting a meeting schedule for the coming year -- proposed to be the same as currently in use with meetings scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month.

The full agenda is below, along with a link to a PDF document with the agenda, minutes of the last meeting, and full proposed budget.
