 If every dog has its day, then for many of them that day was Saturday at the Posh Pets in the Piaza event in the Ave Maria town center.

People and their pets from all parts of Collier County turned out to participate in contests, try out a dog agility course, browse the many vendors and suppliers of pet services, or just hang out in the sunshine.

A highlight of the competition was a "canine couture" contest featuring dogs in all sorts of costumes, like the "poodle angel" (right) and the contest winner, Axel an eight-year-old greyhound(left with owner Carole Chrusz) from Cape Coral.

Below right, Marco, an Australian labradoodle, demonstrates the agility course.

Below left, Dustin, an 11-year-old Lhasa Apso high-fives owner Megan MacGregor of Naples after winning the "best trick" competition for being able to sneeze on command.
