 y night\, internationally-known pianist Eric Genuis will play a return eng
 agement Wednesday\, Jan. 16\, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Ave Maria Un
 iversity student union ballroom.<br /><br />Mr. Genuis will have a smaller
  ensemble this time\, accompanied by a violinist\, a cellist and a vocalis
 t. At his previous concert\, a large contingent of strings players from th
 e Ave Maria community and Florida Gulf Coast University played.<br /><br /
 >Tickets will be available at the door and cost: $7 for adults\, $3 for st
 udents and children under 12 are free and welcome. Proceeds go to provide 
 scholarships for the strings program sponsored by the Ave Maria Community

DESCRIPTION:<p>Harvard Law Professor Mary Ann Glendon will speak on the top
 ic 'Politics as a Vocation' Thursday\, Jan. 17\, at 5 p.m. in the lecture 
 hall of the Ave Maria University academic building.<br /><br />Professor G
 lendon is the Learned Hand Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and pres
 ident of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences\, She was appointed to 
 the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom in May of 2012. Fro
 m 2008 to 2009\, she served as U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See and prior t
 o that she was a member of President Bush's Council on Bioethics (2001-200
 4). A prolific scholar\, Professor Glendon writes and teaches in the field
 s of human rights\, comparative law\, constitutional law\, and political t
 heory. Among her works are Abortion and Divorce in Western Law (1989)\, th
 e critically acclaimed Rights Talk: The Impoverishment of Political Discou
 rse (1993)\, and A World Made New: Eleanor Roosevelt and the Universal Dec
 laration of Human Rights (2002). Her lecture Thursday is drawn from her la
 test book\, The Forum and the Tower (2011).</p>\n<p>Sponsored by a grant f
 rom the Stuck with Virtue Conference Series\, the Ernest L. Fortin Lecture
  Series is named after Fr. Ernest L. Fortin\, A.A. Fr Fortin taught at Ass
 umption College\, Laval University\, and Boston College\, where he held jo
 int appointments in the Theology and Political Science Departments and cod
 irected the Institute for the Study of Politics and Religion. The author o
 f books on Dante and St. Augustine\, his collected essays have been publis
 hed in four volumes. Focusing on the intersection of philosophical\, theol
 ogical\, and political reflection\, the lectures in this series explore th
 e diverse but interrelated themes that animated Fr. Fortin's life as a tea
 cher and scholar.<br /><br />The lecture is free and open to the public. <
