The Ave Maria Stewardship Community District holds its regul
arly-scheduled monthly meeting Tuesday\, Feb. 7\, at the offices of the Ma
ster Association. This meeting's agenda includes items that will spell out
the procedure for qualifying for the first election of a member of the bo
ard by by residents.
The AMSCD is a special-purpose board the i
s responsible primarily for infrastructure in Ave Maria such as major road
s\, irrigation and stormwater drainage. Meetings are scheduled for the fir
st Tuesday of every month and are open to all\, with the opportunity for m
embers of the public to ask quesitons.

Ave Maria Development's Warmest Winter Ever event -- which w
as highly popular in its debut in 2016 -- will be held in the Ave Maria to
wn center Saturday\, Feb. 18 from 3 p.m to 8 p.m.
The movie Frozen will be shown on the lawn at 6 p.m. and
before that there will be various activities including the Polar Bear Ext
reme Inflatable\, horse and carriage rides\, karaoke\, face painting\, bal
loon art and s'mores. Meet-and-greet opportunities will be available with
everyone's favorite Snow Princess and Ice Queen from 3:30pm to 6:00pm as w
ell as live singing performances. Boys and girls are encouraged to wear th
eir favorite character costume to enjoy gathering goodies from the Treat S
treet. Schedule a royal makeover for your little one in advance by calling
239-353-6600. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy this warm wint
er event.
Ave Maria Development will host Blues\, Brews & BBQ on Satur day\, Feb 25 from 11 am to 5 pm in the Ave Maria town center. The free eve nt features outdoor concerts by local blues bands The Good Bad Kids\, Lit tle Eddie and the Fat Fingers\, Deb & the Dynamics\, and Marty Stokes. The outdoor concert festival will also feature BBQ from Jonesez BBQ and Smoki n R's as well as food offerings from restaurants in town. There also will be a beer tent\, local merchant booths\, and a West Coast Muscle Car Club and Cool Cruisers show. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and bla nkets.

Ave Maria University has a number of events planned to mark
the Feast of the Annunciation\, March 25\, 2017\, to mark not only the fea
st day but also AMU founder Tom Monaghan's 80th birthday.

om 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will offer an opportunity to speak with candidates

The election w
ill be held a week later\, Tuesday\, April 25.
The winner will
be the first member of the five-person board to be directly elected by re
sidents in a popular-vote election. Other seats will remain chosen by a 'l
andowners' election in which votes are allocated by amount of property own
ed in Ave Maria\, meaning that those members will be chosen by the develop
ers.
Polls will be open from noon to 7 p.m. April 25 to choose th e first member of the Ave Maria Stewardship Community District to be elete d directly by residents. Voting will be in the offices of the Ave Maria Ma ster Association and must be done in person -- no early voting or absentee voting. Any resident of Ave Maria who is registered to vote in Collier Co unty is eligible to vote in the special election.
