Fr. Cory Mayer will bless a statue that will be installed in the Ave Maria Oratory as a memorial to Alex Klucik on Tuesday, July 30, at 12:25 p.m. (following the noon Mass) in the Oratory,
Titled Good Shepherd ~ Bonus Pastor, the three-foot marble statue was commisioned by the Klucik family and carved by Márton Váró, who created the Annunciation sculpture that is over the doors of the entrance to the oratory.
"We hope this portrayal of the gaze of Christ the Good Shephard inspires much contemplation. The Good Shepherd was chosen to highlight and inspire the joy and healing we can all find in God's infinite mercy and love, the hope and comfort we can all find in God during trials or fears (especially death), and the joyful and loving sacrifice made by priests for God's flock," Mr. Klucik said.
The family invites people to contribute to the Alex Klucik Grace Fund, which is used in the Ave Maria community to keep Alex's memory alive by supporting the Christian ideal that Alex sought to live. To date, most of the money spent by this fund has gone to support the Rhodora J. Donahue Academy. The Good Shepherd sculpture was NOT purchased with money from the Alex Klucik Grace Fund. The fund has projects planned to support AMU and to support the continued presence of the Dominican Sisters of Mary Mother of the Eucharist in Ave Maria. Donations to the fund can be sent to:
